Alumni Opportunities: A 2024 Calendar

Weekly virtual “Write with Me” sessions:

• Sundays, 6 – 9 p.m. ET / 3 – 6 p.m. PT, hosted by Chella Courington
• Tuesdays, 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT (30-60 minutes), hosted by Diana McQuady (F ’14)
• Fridays, 10 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. PT (about 75 minutes), hosted by Terry Price (F ’06)

Monthly Alumni Gatherings, held virtually:

• First Monday: Submit Your Work: hosted by Noelle Sciulli (F ’20). All genres welcome! First Monday of the month, 7:30 PM ET / 4:30 PT.
• Spalding Water Cooler, hosted by Mervyn Seivwright (P ’19) and Cristina Trapani-Scott (F/P ’09). A supportive space to discuss the challenges and joys of the writing life. Third Sunday of the month, 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT.
• Prompt with Me! Hosted by Kimm Stammen (F ’19). Last Monday of the month, 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT.

Links to our recurring weekly and monthly sessions are posted on the Spalding MFA in Writing Alumni Association closed Facebook group. Session meetings may occasionally vary as the host decrees. The Facebook group is the best place to keep up with the schedules.

January

• Jan. 2: First Monday: Submit Your Work (see Monthly Sessions, above)
• Course registration opens for alumni who want to take a Spring or Summer semester of study. (Spring residency takes place in Louisville; summer residency is held virtually. Email Karen.)
• Jan. 12: Applications open for Alumni Celebration of New Works
• Jan. 16: Travel registration window opens for Portugal enrichment trip, Sept. 22-29

February

• Feb. 1: Registration deadline for Post-master’s Certificate in Writing Enrichment for Spring or Summer semesters

• Feb. 5: First Monday: Submit Your Work (see Monthly Sessions, above)
• Feb 7 – 10: AWP in Kansas City. Visit us at Bookfair Booth 633!
• Feb. 8: Spalding’s AWP hangout at Johnny’s Tavern, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
• Feb. 16: Last day to register for Portugal enrichment trip
• Feb. 16: Registration opens for Writing at the Brown writers’ retreat, May 25 – June 1
